Dixie Releases 2017 Double Header Schedule

DIXIE – The 2017 Dixie League has released its schedule for the upcoming season.  As the the only double header league in the Association, and scoring at a minimum, many teams may find that this league is unlike any they have played in before.

As we enter the new season with several new teams and all veteran teams returning having been playoff teams from last season, teams are looking forward to seeing how well they used the draft in this low scoring, doubleheader format, and to see what adjustments will need to be made to complete a successful season and make a push for the playoffs.

In Week 1, we have several match ups that could shape the league early, as the defending Dixie Cup Champion Sanford Celeryfeds take on the two new additions to the league managed by brothers, facing the Lakeland Raiders in Game 1 and the Orlando Crush in Game 2 of an all Florida double header.  We also have 2, 2016 playoff teams vying for bragging rights as the veteran

The Dixie League’s pair of brother team managers will both be facing the 2016 Champion Sanford Celeryfeds in Week 1

New Orleans Black Hats take on the upstart and returning Andalusia Arrows coached by the Association Rookie of the Year in a match up of League Commissioner vs. Asst. Commissioner.  That match-up is the second game of a double header that will see Andalusia host the league’s farthest west club, the San Angelo Wolverines, while the Black Hats host Georgia’s Hinesville Warrior.  Also in Week 1, Austin and Kokomo will see action against each other in Game 1, followed by afternoon games versus Lakeland and San Angelo, while the returning Westfield Bombers will try to get a sweep at Orlando then Hinesville.
