Dixie Logo red, white, blueDIXIE – The Sanford Celeryfeds out of central Florida dominated Week 1 in The Dixie, sweeping their double header with a league high 7 touchdowns.  They dominated Flat Rock in the early game, winning by a margin of 16 – 4, but had their hands full in the second leg of their doubleheader against the Houston Africans, narrowly pulling out a 16-15 victory after a Monday Night rally by their kicker.  They will face their in-state rival Florida Jesters, playing out of Sarasota, in Week 2, along with a double header match-up with the Westfield Bombers.  The league veteran Jesters also swept their match-ups in Week 1, defeating the 2015 Western League Champion Black Hats,  15-13, and then the Bombers by 15-11.  The Celeryfeds and Jesters both stand atop the Eastern League at 2-0 and this early season showdown will be watched with much anticipation around the league.

In the Western League, despite their last minute loss to Sanford, the Africans took care of West rival Andalusia 15-12 to split their double header at .500, but it’s the Radio Flyers in the driver’s
