Aztecs, Blue Dogs Face Off Again

The AF#24 Mexico Aztecs (9-4-0) are undefeated this season at home in Estadio Azteca, where they’ll be hosting the 2018 Western Conference Wild Card Game, but they’ll be without one half of their dynamic halfback duo – #5 and #6 in the league – for this one as Melvin Gordon is expected to sit out with an injury, so expect a heavy workload for Ezekiel Elliot. The last time Mexico lost here at home was in last season’s Western Conference Championship Game against the Blue Dogs, where they were routed, 106-49 to end their season. Aztecs fans are hoping three is a charm for them as they look for revenge against Buenos Aires who also beat them in the pair’s last meeting, 106-76 in the Week 9 Premier Match this season.

The Argentine Air Force is what fans are calling the AF#10 Buenos Aires Blue Dogs receiving corp that consists of the #2, #3, and #4 wide receivers in the league – Adam Thielen, Antonio Brown, and Devonte Adams who have combined for almost 500 points this season. In week 9, however, when Buenos Aires last played Mexico, not one of the trio hit double digit points, so the Blue Dogs may have to turn elsewhere on their roster for success. B.A. has gone 2-2 since that match-up, averaging 103 points per game. They’ve dropped their last two games in a row and will need to get off to a hot start if they want to make a run at returning to the World Bowl for the second season in a row.
