Tournament Rules

I     General

A.   These will serve to be the official rules for Associated Fantasy's 2020 Sweet Sixteen 5 on 5 Tournament (Sweet 16)

B.   For anything not covered in these rules, please refer to the League Settings page at League website;  League will be hosted on Fleaflicker.com

C.   All arbitration of League Rules to be arbitrated solely by Tournament Coordinator (TC)

D.   TC may maintain their own team in the tournament, OR may be listed as a “Co-Owner” of a team, in the event TC is listed as a “Co-Owner” it will only be for the purposes of running the tournament and TC will have no actual control over the team they are Co-Owner of

E.   Should any unforeseen event arise not covered explicitly in the rules, TC will exercise final judgment

1.    Any TC judgment made outside of specified rules that involves TC’s team will cause TC’s team to be removed from Championship eligibility

2.   This rule applies ONLY if TC is a team owner.  If TC is a Co-Owner, that team will not be effected by this rule

F.   Tournament rules are subject to adjustment before entry fees have been paid, and will be marked ‘LOCKED’ once any changes are final

G.   If, for any reason, there is a discrepensy between any rule listed in these rules and any setting listed on the League Settings page of the host site, settings page will supercede

II     Entry Fees/Payout

A.   Entry fee for Sweet 16 will be $30.00 (US) per team

B.   Payout pot will total $480.00 (US)

    1. Tournament Champion (1st place) will win $200.00 (US)
    2. 2nd Place will win $100.00 (US)
    3. 3rd Place will win $80.00 (US)
    4. Overall Points Leader will win $100.00(US)
      1. "Overall Points Leader' is defined as the team scoring the most total fantasy points in Weeks 1-16 combined
      2. All Teams are elligible for this prize, even if eliminated from the bracket portion of the Tournament
      3. Winning the Overall Points Leader prize does not preclude winner from also winning one of the 1st-4th Place prizes, nor does winning one of the 1st-4th place prizes preclude winner from winning the Overall Points Leader prize

C.   Entries and payouts will be handled through LeagueSafe.com

D.   TC will set deadline for payment of entry fee once tournament is full

E.  Prize money will not be disbursed until the Friday following Week 17 of the NFL Regular Season

III     Format

A.   The Sweet 16 Tournament is a 16 Team, Single Week Points Qualifier followed by a 15 week Modified Single Elimination Bracket featuring 3 game 'best of' series

B.     Total Scoring

    1. A running tally of total fantasy points scored will be kept for the entire duration of the tournament (Weeks 1-16)
    2. This applies to all teams, whether eliminated or not, whether engaged in an active match or not
    3. The Total Scoring tally will apply to bracket seeding and also to the Total Points Leader prize payout
    4. After the conclusion of Week 16, the Total Points Leader will be named, chosen from among all 16 teams, and will be the winner of the Total Points Leader Cash Prize

C.     Round 1 (Week 1)

    1. In Week 1 of the season will be a Points Qualifier for the Tournament Bracket
      1. There will be head to head matches listed, but winning or losing these match-ups is meaningless and only total points scored have relevance
    2. At the conclusion of Week 1, teams will be ranked 1-16 by total Week 1 fantasy scoring (with 1 being most week 1 points scored)
    3. Teams will then be seeded into the Tournament Bracket according to that points ranking
    4. Teams will be matched against their Round 2 opponent by seeding as follows:
      • Seed #1 vs Seed #16
      • Seed #2 vs Seed #15
      • Seed #3 vs Seed #14
      • Seed #4 vs Seed #13
      • Seed #5 vs Seed #12
      • Seed #6 vs Seed #11
      • Seed #7 vs Seed #10
      • Seed #8 vs Seed #9

D.     Round 2 (Weeks 2-4)

    1. Round 2 will begin bracket play and will take place in Weeks 2-4
    2. Teams will play a 3-game series against their matched opponent in Weeks 2, 3, and 4
    3. The first team in each set of matches to reach 2 wins in these best of 3 series, will be declared series winner and will automatically advance to Round 3
      1. If a team wins the first 2 of the 3 games, then the W-L outcome of the 3rd game is meaningless, HOWEVER, fantasy points scored by both teams in that 3rd game will still apply to those teams' Season Points Total

E.     Round 3 (Weeks 5-7)

    1. The 8 Round 2 Series winners will be ranked by total season points (Weeks 1-4) 1-8 and given coresponding Seed #'s 1-8
    2. The remaining 8 teams (Round 2 Series losers) will be ranked by total season points (Weeks 1-4) and the top 4 will be given coresponding Wild Card Seeds #'s WC1-WC4
    3. The 8 Round 2 Winners and 4 Wild Card Seeds will be placed into the Round 3 arm of the bracket and matched against their opponent as follows:
      • Seed #1 vs Seed #8
      • Seed #2 vs Seed #7
      • Seed #3 vs WC Seed #4
      • Seed #4 vs WC Seed #3
      • Seed #5 vs WC Seed #2
      • Seed #6 vs WC Seed #1
    4. Round 3 will then begin bracket play and will take place in Weeks 5-7
    5. Teams will play a 3-game series against their matched opponent in Weeks 5, 6, and 7
    6. The first team in each set of matches to reach 2 wins in these best of 3 series, will be declared series winner and will automatically advance to Round 4
      1. If a team wins the first 2 of the 3 games, then the W-L outcome of the 3rd game is meaningless, HOWEVER, fantasy points scored by both teams in that 3rd game will still apply to those teams' Season Points Total

F.     Round 4 (Weeks 8-10)

    1. The 6 Round 3 Series winners will be ranked by total season points (Weeks 1-7) 1-6 and given coresponding Seed #'s 1-6
    2. The remaining 10 tournament teams (Round 3 Series losers AND all teams idle since losing in Round 2) will be ranked by total season points (Weeks 1-7) and the top 2 will be given coresponding Wild Card Seeds #'s WC1 and WC2
    3. The 6 Round 3 Winners and 2 Wild Card Seeds will be placed into the Round 4 arm of the bracket and matched against their opponent as follows:
      • Seed #1 vs WC Seed #2
      • Seed #2 vs WC Seed #1
      • Seed #3 vs Seed #6
      • Seed #4 vs Seed #5
    4. Round 4 will then begin bracket play and will take place in Weeks 8-10
    5. Teams will play a 3-game series against their matched opponent in Weeks 8, 9, and 10
    6. The first team in each set of matches to reach 2 wins in these best of 3 series, will be declared series winner and will automatically advance to Round 5
      1. If a team wins the first 2 of the 3 games, then the W-L outcome of the 3rd game is meaningless, HOWEVER, fantasy points scored by both teams in that 3rd game will still apply to those teams' Season Points Total

G.     Round 5 (Weeks 11-13)

    1. The 4 Round 4 Series winners will be ranked by total season points (Weeks 1-10) 1-4 and given coresponding Seed #'s 1-4
    2. The 4 Round 4 Winners will then be placed into the Round 5 arm of the bracket and matched against their opponent as follows:
      • Seed #1 vs Seed #4
      • Seed #2 vs Seed #3
    3. Round 5 will then begin bracket play and will take place in Weeks 11-13
    4. Teams will play a 3-game series against their matched opponent in Weeks 11, 12, and 13
    5. The first team in each set of matches to reach 2 wins in these best of 3 series, will be declared series winner and will automatically advance to Round 6
      1. If a team wins the first 2 of the 3 games, then the W-L outcome of the 3rd game is meaningless, HOWEVER, fantasy points scored by both teams in that 3rd game will still apply to those teams' Season Points Total

H.     Round 6/Championship (Weeks 14-16)

    1. The Round 5 winners will be placed into the final, Round 6 arm of the bracket to face each other in a 3-Game Championship Series in Weeks 14, 15, and 16
      1. If a team wins the first 2 of the 3 games, then the W-L outcome of the 3rd game is meaningless, HOWEVER, fantasy points scored by both teams in that 3rd game will still apply to those teams' Season Points Total
      2. The first of the two teams to reach 2 wins will be declared Tournament Champion and receive the 1st place payout
      3. The Series loser will be declared Tournament Runner-Up and will receive the 2nd place payout
    2. The Round 5 losing teams will be placed into the Round 6, 3rd/4th Place auxilary arm of the bracket to face each other in a 3-Game 3rd/4th Place Series
      1. If a team wins the first 2 of the 3 games, then the W-L outcome of the 3rd game is meaningless, HOWEVER, fantasy points scored by both teams in that 3rd game will still apply to those teams' Season Points Total
      2. The first of the two teams to reach 2 wins will be declared 3rd Place Finisher and receive the 3rd place payout

IV     Rosters

A.   The Sweet 16 Tournament will utilize the AF Formations Roster Set minus the positions of QB, K, and Team Def

B.     Starting Line-Up

    1. Starting Line-Up will consist of a maximum of 5 Skill Position (RB, WR, TE) players in any combination that make up a legal NFL Formation
      1. A minimum of 0 and a maximum of 3 RBs may be Started
      2. A minimum of 0 and a maximum of 3 TEs may be started
      3. A minimum of 0 and a maximum of 5 WRs may be started

C.     Roster

    1. BENCH - the bench will have 2 spots, making a total roster of just 7 players
    2. There are no position minimum/maximums for players included on the general roster (only on the starting roster)

 

V    Draft

A.   The 2020 Draft will be live, online on a date and time TBD by Associated Fantasy

1.   Draft will be serpentine style, 7 rounds in length

3.   60 seconds are allotted for each pick

4.   Draft order forwill be randomized by the draft order randomizer tool at FFToolbox.com prior to draft but after all teams have paid entry fees

B.     In order to make it easier for all teams to follow the draft in progress, ALL TEAMS are required to post logos to their team prior to the draft

    1. Logos may be custom or NFL default
    2. Teams that do not post their own logos will have logos posted for them by AF

VI     Scoring

A.   The  Sweet 16 Tournament will utilize the AF PPR Offensive Scoring Package with Decimal Option set to "YES":

    1. Passing/Kicking values are included in the scoring and starting players are elligible to be scored in these categories (in the instance of 'trick' plays, etc)

VII     Free Agency/Trades/Cuts

A.   Free Agency

1.   Free Agency is open from immediately following the draft through to the end of season with Waivers in effect

B.   Waivers

    1. Waiver order will be revolving waivers, never reset
    2. Initial Waiver Order will be inverse order of first round of the draft
    3. Waiver period is 2 days

C.     Transaction Limits

1.   There is a limit of 10 Add/Drop transactions for all teams for the duration of the Tournament

D.   Trades

1.Trading is not allowed in the Tournament

VIII     Tiebreakers

A.     Individual Match-ups are allowed to end in ties

B.     For instances where a 3-game series has been won once each by each team, and they have tied once, the progression of tiebreakers for the series will be as follows:

    1. Total Series Points
    2. Total number of TDs scored (all positions) in tied game
    3. Total number of TDs scored (all positions) in series
    4. Total yards from scrimmage accumulated by all starters combinedin tied game
    5. Total number of yards from scrimmage accumulated by all starters combined in series
    6. Turnover Rate (+/-) in tied game
    7. Turnover Rate (+/-) in series
    8. Total Number of Receptions (all starters combined) in tied game
    9. Total Tournament Points
    10. If still tied at Tournament Points, progression advances to Tournament Points Tiebreakers

C.     Progression of Tiebreakers for tied Tournament Points in determining seeding and/or Wild Card selection will be as follows:

    1. Total Points scored in previous game
    2. Progression continues backward, one week at a time, for all previous games until previous games have been exhausted
    3. Current Waiver Priority

IX     Special Rule

A.     Participation in tournament is limited to one entry per household/IP address

B.     After all tournament slots are filled but before draft order has been established, hosting site will be contacted to verify that all participants registered with tournament are originating from different IP addresses to verify that no participant is registered with multiple teams

C.     Multiple teams originating from the same IP address will result in immediate expulsion of all teams involved
