Stealing Home: Dixie Playoffs Set

DIXIE LEAGUE – Week 11 marks the final week of the Dixie League’s regular season, and it was a barn burner of a finish.  Although the results have not yet been certified by the League Office, it looks like the four playoff teams are set.  In the Western League, the veteran Andalusia Arrows (14-6-2) had already clinched their ticket to the post season, and after a monster, 19 run weekend, the expansion Austin Bulls (12-6-4) will be joining them in the Western League Championship Series.  The Bulls beat out the third place Kokomo Kings (10-7-5) who will have to settle for being declared the 2017 Homerun Derby Winner after logging 47 touchdowns on the season, just barely beating out Andalusia (46) and San Angelo (45).

In the Eastern League, things were much tighter.  The Lakeland Raiders (11-8-3) split their games in Week 11, including a loss to Austin, but still finished first in the East, but the day didn’t go quite as well for the Defending Champion Sanford Celeryfeds (10-10-2), who got off to a slow start this season, but had been climbing in the standings.  Sanford managed to put up only 3 runs on the day, and took a pair of losses, allowing the Hinesville Warrior (10-9-3) to sneak in by just a half game lead in the standings.  While still awaiting certification by the League, particularly with the standings so close, it looks like the Eastern League Championship Series will feature Lakeland vs Hinesville.

Both Series will be best of three match-ups taking place in Weeks 12, 13, and 14 (if necessary), look for a preview of both exciting match-ups later in the week.
