Dixie Logo red, white, blueDIXIE – Ten games into the double-header schedule in the Dixie League, and the Andalusia Arrows sit firmly in first place overall with an 8-2-0 record for an .800 win percentage.  led by some of the most consistent receivers in the league and quarterbacked by Matt Ryan, the Arrows have a full 2 game lead on the nearest competition in the Western League and have a league-high 3 double-header sweeps on the season.  The Little Rock Radio Flyers and 2016 Pro Bowl New Orleans Black Hats are both 2 games back from Andalusia at 5-8, the Black Hats with a 4 run advantage.

The Andalusia (Alabama) Arrows and Florida (Sarasota) Jesters currently lead the Eastern and Western Leagues in The Dixie
The Andalusia (Alabama) Arrows (8-2-0) and Florida (Sarasota) Jesters (6-4-0) currently lead the Eastern and Western Leagues in The Dixie

In the Eastern League, the Florida Jesters continue their early season primacy after faltering in weeks 3 and 4, but the field is much tighter than in the West.  Florida (6-4-0) is just a half game ahead of the Westfield Bombers (5-4-1) and 1 game up from the Sanford Celeryfeds (5-5-0).  Sanford leads the League in runs scored with 65 total points thus far, 5 more than the Arrows who are next on that list.  The Celeryfeds and Arrows, as well as Westfield are playing mistake-free football, tied at 4 apiece for the lowest total number of errors committed.  Flat Rock and Birmingham are playing very good defense with 5 and 4 takeaways respectively, but it has not translated into wins for them as they sit in the cellar in their respective leagues.

The Homerun Derby is starting to spread out as the Houston Africans climb into the number 1 position with 28, largely on the strength of their 11 touchdown Week 4 performance.  The Little Rock Radio Flyers are right behind them with 24, and the Celeryfeds and Jesters each have 23.  Several Dixie League teams are dealing with the effects of Hurricane Matthew that barreled into the southeast coast this week, including Andalusia, Carolina, Flat Rock, Florida, and Sanford, and the League’s thoughts and prayers go out to those teams and their families in this time of crisis, hoping the world of fantasy football can bring just a little bit of a distraction from the storm.
