AF Top 25 For Week 15
AF TOP 25 – The week 15 totals are in as the Top 25 heads deep into the playoffs, and there’s very little movement from Week 14 as the season crawls to a close. The entire top five remains steady from last week, led by On The Rox who kicks off the Fantasy Addicts Championship this week vs Orange Lantern Corp, who jumped up 4 spots this week to #16. The Sanford Celeryfeds remain in second place after winning Game 1 of the Dixie League Championship Series vs the New Orleans Black Hats who remain tied at the #4 spot. AF Registered Coach Mighty Pats still has 3 of his Mighty Pats squads on the list, his Fantasy Circus Pats still holding on to #3 as they lead after 1 round of the Fantasy Circus’ championship round. To round out the top 5, tied with the Black Hats at #4, is the Cardiff Crusaders who suffered an upset loss in the IFFl playoffs and are done for the season.
Besides the Crusaders, 10 other teams on this week’s list have been eliminated in their respective playoffs, unable to better their final VsL numbers for the season. Some notable teams in this category include the Los Angeles Dragons and The Dawg Pound who both suffered upset losses in the World League and Super 16 playoffs. The World League’s Scandinavian Stars are a new entry this week, last appearing at #22 in Week 12, they come in at #20 this week after winning the WFL Eastern Conference Championship game. The Mexico Aztecs, Venice Killerwhales, and Sacks Fifth Avenue all fall off the list this week, tied with a .570 VsL, just outside of #25.
The Top 25 rankings are based on VsL% (Vs League) and are calculated by dividing for win percentage, a team’s W-L-T record if that team had played every other team in its league each week. Teams that are in the playoffs, have their VsL calculated slightly differently from regular season calculations. Playoff teams’ VsL% is calculated by attributing non-playoff teams with a score of 0 (giving playoff teams an automatic VsL win against non-playoff teams). Playoff wins are given credit as VsL wins over playoff losses even if the score value is lower, and playoff losses are given credit as VsL wins over lower scoring losses. Playoff BYEs are counted as a win with the VsL value equal to the team’s seeding (ie a #1 seeded playoff bye, counts as a win vs all other teams in the league; a #2 seeded BYE counts as a VsL win vs all teams except the #1 seed, etc). This means teams greatly improve upon their regular season rankings the deeper into the playoffs they go
