Whales Kill!: Venice Wins IFFL Championship
IFFL – The expansion Venice Killerwhales cap off an exciting season, beating the New Orleans VooDoo 305-276 in the IFFL championship game to win the Crystal Globe Award and be named International Champions. AF Pro Bowl nominee Venice, entered the league filling the slot left by the 2014 Champion Mali Eagles, and perhaps used the luck of that slot to counter any sort of black magic the VooDoo could throw at them to take the Championship. Venice came out in the first half of the match-up to post a 40 point advantage, led by DeAndre Hopkins and his 28 points, with 4 other Whale players scoring within a breath of 20 total points. In the week 17 second half of the match-up, New Orleans breifly threatened, closing the gap, and even going ahead by 2 points for just a few minutes before Venice retook the lead, and never looked back. The Whales finish out 2015 with a regular season record of 9-4-0, 2500 pts and the Eastern Division title, and a playoff run of 2-0, 780 points with victories over Greece and New Orleans.
