IFFL solo logoIFFL – It was an upset weekend in the IFFL as the underdogs won, and won BIG in 4 of 5 matches.  The Perth Panthers were the only team with a better record than their opponent to pull off a victory, and they just squeaked by, defeating the expansion New Zealand Saints 175-142.  With the victory, Perth advances to 6-3, ranked #1 in the South Division and #3 overall.  The New Orleans VooDoo is right behind them, now 5-4, and second in the South after they stage a late Monday comeback to defeat Venice 251-217.  The VooDoo’s performance was the high score of the week with 93 points posted to the scoreboard on MNF as New Orleans started a pair of dueling QBs in this rematch of last season’s Championship game.

The loss for the Killerwhales means they could not capitalize on North Division leader Cardiff’s upset loss to Charleston.  The Franchise Playerz stunned the Crusaders, beating them 210-180.  With both Cardiff and Venice losing in Week 9, both teams now sport 6-3 records and remain ranked 1 and 2 in both the Division and the League as they careen toward their Week 11 match-up against each other.

The Scottish Claymores got in on the upset action, beating Chicago 174-138, and in a massive performance, the Mexico City Warriors destroyed the Cape Town Broncos 213-122, leaving the South African franchise in third place in the South.  Week 10, again, has a number of match-ups featuring low-record teams playing the league leaders, will the underdogs pull off another round of upsets?
