Mafia Dogs
The dance card for the World League‘s Eastern Conference playoffs is still wide open and two rising contenders are featured in this week’s Premier Match as the Buenos Aires Blue Dogs (3-6-0) make the trip north to take on the Youngstown Mafia (3-6-0). Youngstown is sitting in third place in the Conference, and if the 1st and 2nd place Mexico Aztecs (6-3-0) and AF#4 City of Champions (5-4-0) can hold onto their positions, they currently have the scoring total to grab the Points Wild Card spot. But the Mafia are suffering through a 4 game slide and need to turn the ship around quickly. Buenos Aires, has won their last two in a row decisively and have a soft schedule to finish out 2019. If they can keep the ball rolling, they have a shot at moving into one of the top two spots. These two met in Week 2 when Youngstown embarrassed the Dogs in Argentina 115-76, and are so far undefeated in the historical series.

UPDATED: Every point mattered in this one, a low scoring game of inches thall the way through the Monday night contest, Youngstown pulling off the win and putting themselves into excellent position to make the playoffs for the first time. Across the Conference, the unranked New Orleans VooDoo did their part to play spoiler, pulling off a massive 113-88 upset over the defending conference champs, AF#12 City of Champions. Toronto wasn’t as lucky and could not hold onto their lead over Mexico through their match that also went to Monday night, getting 14 points from their running back, but unable to withstand Mexico’s Seahawk defense that delivered a 78-74 Aztec win. Mexico will go to 7-3-0, clinching their 4th consecutive playoff appearance, and are only 1 win away from clinching the #1 seed.
In the Eastern Conference, AF#2 London, AF#7 Milan, and AF#8 England all rolled through their opponents. With their 9th win of the season, Milan has clinched their post-season appearance, and London and England have all but put a bow on theirs, setting up big games in Week 12 (London vs Milan) and 13 (England vs Milan) to settle playoff seeding.
