IFFL – The Cardiff Crusaders beat Charleston 281-236 to advance to 4-1 and post the 3rd highest single game score in IFFL history. It’s the 3rd time in 5 weeks that the Crusaders have posted scores that put them inside of the historical top 11 performances in the league’s 3 year history. In just 5 weeks of play, they have outscored their nearest competitor by 177 total points and currently have a 228 point per game average – the league per game average without the Crusaders is 180.
In other league news, the defending Champion Venice Killerwhales, outlasted the expansion Broncos in a close, low scoring game 117-98. This leaves #1 Cardiff, #2 Venice, and the #3 Cape Town Broncos all sitting at 4-1. Cardiff and Venice won’t play each other again until Week 11, the Crusaders lost their first meeting in Week 2 in their lowest scoring outing all season.
The expansion Saints got their first win in Week 5, beating Mexico City 199-180; Both teams are now 1-4. Perth sacrificed the VooDoo 167-112 to take a firm hold on second place in the Southern Division, while the Red Stars left Scotland in last place in the North buy a margin of just 7 points.
The #2 Killerwhales will meet the #4 Panthers next week in an important match-up that could very well have playoff implications.
