Insane Upset

LEGION OF DEFENSE – Week 4 marked the opening week of divisional play in the Legion of Defense, and in the Premier Division, a rematch of the 2016 season’s Legion Bowl IV was on the schedule.  The last time Suspension Freaks and Insane Clowney Posse faced each other, Shane Rocks’ Freaks came away with the Golden Skull Trophy and the League Championship and this match looked set up to have the same outcome.  Suspension Freaks were 3-0 going into Week 4 and had outscored every team in the league by a pretty wide margin.  They had also just been named the #1 team in the Association on the first Top 25 rankings list of 2017.  Nexecutioner’s Insane Clowneys, were only 1-2 and ranked #57, but had been salivating for this rematch for 10 months, and not only pulled off the upset, 79-67, but were also named Defense of the Week for their efforts.  The Clowns racked up 22 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 7 sacks – 5 of them IDP – 11 quarterback hits, 4 interceptions, 2 passes defensed, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovered, and 7 defensive points in the victory.  This pair are scheduled to play each other again in Week 7, and then in Week 10 as well, so this rivalry could get interesting.

Premier Division standings through week 4

The other Premier Division match scheduled last week saw the previously undefeated Sleeper Agent take a 63-43 loss to the Mighty Pats who were in the running for DotW honors with their 7.5 sacks (2.5 IDP), 35 tackles and 14 defensive points.  The Pats and Clowns will go toe to toe in Week 5 while Sleeper Agent and the Freaks battle it out.

In the All-Pro Division, the only other remaining undefeated team in the league, the AF#10 Chinese Bandits lost in an upset as well, going down 62-41 to the Battering Rams.   Moving to 3-1 and taking control of the division, The Gates of Delirium beat on The Cavalry as if they were dead horses, 33-12.  The four of them will swap dance partners in Week 5, with Chinese Bandits drawing The Cavalry, and Battering Rams taking a try get through The Gates.  League veteran Sacks Fifth Avenue, just a few weeks removed from their own Defense of the Week Award, took an absolute beatdown, 59-9 at the hands of league rookie Gotta Big Defense in the Reserve Division.  Another league rookie, Rox’s Roxsteady takes over the division lead after beating BIGDOGINTEX 61-51.  The Big Dog will face Sacks in Week 5, still looking for their first win, while Big D and Roxsteady, both teams 2-2, will go to war over division control.
