Fins -steel- East Division
SUPER 16 – In a Bye-Week strength vs Bye-Week strength Game of the Week in the S-16, the Northern Fins easily got by division rival Steel Curtain 181-115. It was the third win in a row for the league’s Miami franchise and with it, they advance to 5-2 and take control of the East Division on the strength of total season points. The Eagle has landed is also 5-2 after besting the Fins by a single point in their own 182-128 victory over the Indy-structibles. The pair will face each other 3 times over the next 5 weeks in a run of games that will surely decide the Division Champion.
In the South Division, the Tweety Birds of Prey finally broke their 6 game losing streak in what turned out to be an easy 219-151 win over the league #2 Motor City Kitties. The defending Champions are now a dismal 2-6, but they are #2 in the league by total points and are not mathematically eliminated from the post season. Can AF Registered Coach Roger Tripp‘s squad run the tables over the final 5 weeks and salvage their season? All three of their division rivals are locked into limbo games from Week 8. The Who Dats and Houston faced each other, with the Who Dats advancing to 6-2 on a 153-151 ‘win’, though they’ll have to wait for the stat corrections to come in to confirm it. BIGDOGINTEX is on the other side of that coin, suffering a 1 point loss, 186-187 to SF’s BowMen.
If the BowMen’s win holds up, it’ll mean they’ve finally taken control of the West Division after Los Angeles fell apart in a 170-228 upset to the BEARMINATORS. Both teams are now 5-2, but BowMen enjoys the advantage of a head-to-head win over the Super Chargers; the two are scheduled to meet in the Week 13 season finale. With an impressive 255-190 victory, 1 Eye Til I Die keeps their playoff hopes alive at the expense of Arizona, and evens their record at 4-4. The Firebirds’ season is for all intents and purposes over, but they can still play spoiler, particularly against division rival 1 Eye when the two face off in an immediate rematch next week.
