Dragons Fly Into The Record Books

IFFL – Just three games into their first season in the IFFL, the Los Angeles Dragons have exploded into the league Record Book, posting the #10 all-time single game scoring performance in their 262-222 victory over the Scottish Claymores.  Led by the unlikely duo of Case Keenum and Alex Smith at quarterback, Los Angeles had 4 of their starters post over 30 points each, including a team high 60 points from Keenum.  The Dragons, 2015 World Champions in the IFFL‘s rival World League, jumped leagues this offseason, filling one of the IFFL‘s expansion slots and has been making a huge splash so far this season.  Through the first three weeks, they lead the league in scoring and advance to a 2-1 record after losing in Week 2 by just an 8 point margin.

IFFL’s Americas Division is all tangled up with 2-1 records

The Dragons also take over early control of the Division on points after the previouosly undefeated Chicago Red Stars drop to 2-1, failing to make a Monday night comeback in their 210-216 loss to the Melbourne Maulers, the Maulers’ first.  Also in the Americas Division, the New Orleans VooDoo posted a statement win of their own, defeating the Venice Killerwhales 230-111, but New Orleans still lags behind the Dragons on points.  The relocated Rochester Grizzlies pulled off a 200+ point win as well, this weekend, defeating the powerhouse Perth Panthers 206-155, leaving the whole Americas Division tangled up at 2-1.

In the expansion Pacific Division, the division leading Hawaiin Beach Bums suffered a Week 3 loss to the Istanbul Lions, but will remain in control of the Pacific at 1-2 on points alone.  Melbourne has the identical 1-2 record after their win against the Red Stars, as does Perth after their loss.  parkhallmark’s Kuala Lumpur Tigers tie things up with a 1-2 record also after squeaking out their first win, a 104-101 defensive struggle with the Cardiff Crusaders who failed to secure a comeback victory on Monday Night Football.  In Europa, Scotland will remain in first despite the loss to Los Angeles, and the Crusaders will match the Claymore’s 2-1 record, remaiining in 2nd place despite their loss as well.  Venice will fall to 1-2, and the Istanbul Lions, who recorded their first win, will need to string together a few more to climb out of the basement.
