AFFL Playoff Shakedown

With two weeks left to go in the AFFL‘s inaugural regular season, 10 teams are still in the race for four division championships, keeping it exciting to the very end and setting up lots of big match-ups to close out the season.  Here’s a quick rundown of the playoff picture. (NOTE: these scenarios are unofficial and subject to mistakes/revisions)

East Division

Miami Stallions 7-4-0/1947/4-2 Div

Pittsburgh Maulers 7-4-0/1979pts/4-3 Div

Sleeperville outlaws 6-5-0/1879/3-3 Div

Miami owns the first tiebreaker over Pittsburgh (head to head), and division recoerd is the second tiebreaker and is still in play.  Pittsburgh owns the 3rd tiebreaker (common out of division opponents) with 2 wins to Miami’s 1.  The Miami/Sleeperville first tiebreaker is split, the second is still in play, and Miami owns the third tiebreaker with 1 win to 0.  The Pittsburgh/Sleeperville tiebreaker hinges on their week 13 head to head match.

Miami can win the division by winning their final 2 games, or by winning just 1 if Pittsburgh suffers a loss in either week 12 or 13.  if Miami loses their final 2, they need Pittsburgh to lose both of theirs and Sleeperville to lose in week 12.

Pittsburgh can win the division with 2 wins and either 1 or 2 Miami losses, or, they can win it with a week 13  win and a Miami loss in either 12 or 13, or a week 12  win, a week 12 Sleeperville loss, and a Miami loss in either week 12 or 13.

Sleeperville needs to win out, and have Miami lose 2 – no matter what Pittsburgh does (if Sleeperville wins out, it means a head to head win over Pittsburgh in week 13, which gives them at least a tied record and the 1st tiebreaker).

West Division

San Quentin Showboats 8-3-0/1837pts/4-2 Div

Henderson Gamblers 7-4-0/2013pts/5-1 Div

The 1st tiebreaker is split, and the 2nd tiebreaker – division record – is still in play. The 3rd tiebreaker is split with 1 win each, and the 4th tiebreaker (total points) barring a miracle, would likely go to Henderson.

San Quentin wins the division if they win out, or if both teams win 1 or if both lose 2.

Henderson must win out, and see San Quentin lose at least 1 to win the division.

South Division

Raleigh Gunslingers  9-2-0/1978pts/5-1 Div

Siloam Springs Panthers 8-3-0/1967pts/4-2 Div

First tiebreaker (head to head) hinges on the outcome of the Week 12 game – Gunslingers have 1 head to head win vs Panthers; 2nd tiebreaker is divison record; 3rd tiebreaker (common out of division opponents) is split (2 wins each)

Raleigh wins the division with a week 12 win, or with a week 13 win and a Siloam Springs loss in Week 13.  If Raleigh loses in both week 12 and 13 and Siloam Springs loses in week 13, it goes to the 4th tiebreaker – total season points.

Siloam Springs wins the division with a week 12  and 13 win and a Raleigh loss in week 13.  If Siloam Springs wins in week 12 and 13, and Raleigh wins in week 13, it goes to the 4th tiebreaker – total season points.
