AFFL 2022 League Update #009: Summer Update

FREE AGENCY/CONTRACTS

  • The Free Agency Period (auction) is complete
  • You can check out the AFFL 2022 Free Agency Season Wrap-Up for a summary
  • All Free Agent contracts – the players you acquired – have been processed….please double check me for mistakes
  • The things you should check are:
    • On your Team Data Sheet
      • Verify that any players you acquired at auction are listed
      • Check the info listed for those players….
        • No of Years and Years Remain should be the same, and should be accurate
        • Your High Bid should be listed as the “Total”
        • The split between yearly salary(ies) and signing bonus should be accurate and as you want it
        • Restructure should be marked Y (players acquired in this auction)
        • If paying a signing bonus, double check that the bonus is itemized on your Dead Money chart (below your active contracts)
      • Make sure that any contract player you’ve acquired by trade (not pending trades) is listed
      • Make sure that any contract player you’ve traded away is no longer listed
      • Make sure your Totals under “Years Remain” and “2022” appear accurate
    • On your MFL Roster check:
      • All players you acquired at auction should have an accurate salary listed and accurate contract info listed beside them
  • I know this is a lot to check…..that’s why I need you all to check your own franchises, if I try to go through all 20 teams looking for errors, I’ll likely miss them….you’ll find any mistakes on your own teams faster than I would.  Accuracy is vital, so please check and get back to me within a week or two if you find any errors

OFFSEASON TRADING

I know a lot of you have been waiting for this…..

  • Offseason trading has now reoponed
  • I have several trade agreements qued that I will begin sending the 48 hour counter offer notices on right after this update
  • If you agree to a trade, you can put it into the MFL system, but you also have to email me a heads up so I know it’s there, and I can send the 48 hour notice out for it

SUMMER SCHEDULING

(I’ve already updated on this…..scheduling continues)

NOTE: Calendar has been updated to reflect a scheduling deadline of Sunday Aug 7

The 2022 Divisions have been set by the Divisional Alignment draft and the 2022 Divisional Schedule has been published.

  • All teams play 8 division games (a Home/Away series against all divisional opponents) + 6 Out-of-Division Games
  • Teams’ 8 divisional games have been randomly scheduled by the MFL system
  • Teams are allowed to Self-Schedule their 6 Out-of-Division games
    • 3 Home Games
    • 3 Away Games
    • Must Be Out of Division
    • Cannot play the same team twice
  • The information on these schedules will be updated daily as teams submit match-ups to the League Office
  • Open Dates that do not get scheduled by the franchise will be scheduled at random and by availability by the League office

TEAM ROSTERS

  • All unauctioned UFA’s, CFA’s, and RFA’s have been returned to their franchises
  • Please Check your MFL roster to verify that it matches the screenshot I sent each of you individually before the auction
    • Any players that were acquired in the auction by other teams should be missing
    • Any players you acquired in the auction should be there with the correct info
    • All of your RFA’s and CFA’s should be returned (unless they were auctioned)(or unless they are currently an NFL free agent, in which case MFL will not allow me to place them back on your roster.  If one of these players is acquired by an NFL team before Cut Day and you want the player back as a keeper, let me know)
    • And no new players should be there
  • Again, this is important for you to check and get back to me on if there are any inaccuracies

CONTRACT RESTRUCTURING

  • The Summer Contract Restructuring Period is now open and will remain open through to Cut Day
  • All eligible contracts can be restructured during this time
  • If you want to restructure a contract, you can just email me with the details, no need to submit a form

Cut Week/Cut Day

  • Cut Week begins on Aug 22 and continues to Cut Day on Aug 29
  • When Cut Week opens, the “Cut Player” function will be enabled so that teams can begin cutting any players they do not intend to keep
    • Both Contract and Non-Contract players can be kept
    • Teams get 100% salary back for all cut players, but will receive a dead money charge of 50% for contract players
    • BTW, the reason I limit making cuts to the final week is because it makes it easier on my end
  • By the end of Cut Day (AUG 29) all team roster costs must total $234.365m (NOT including dead money) or less and total contract year commitments must be 27 or fewer
    • You can keep track of this on your MFL Roster…..under your list of players, in the blue part, the first line tells you how many players total you have on your roster, the next line says “TOTAL:” then a dollar amount, and then a number……the dollar amount must get below $234.365 and the number must be at or below 27….you’ll see them change as you cut players
  • Cut Day is a week before the draft, after Cut Day, I’ll get everything finalized and we’ll be all set

RULES UPDATES

  • I’m working to get the 2022 Rules Revisions finished and a guide published…hopefully in the next 2 weeks
  • Besides the Taxi Squad and FB rules already updated on, there’s nothing major to be concerned with
