2016 Pro Bowl Tournament Kicks Off Association’s Draft Season
AF – It’s the most exciting time of the year again, fantasy draft season, and the Association is braced for a flurry of draft action with 17 of them scheduled over the next 21 days. This season, a total of 158 teams across 15 Associated Leagues and Tournaments will be selecting their rosters as they prepare for the 96th annual NFL season.
AF’s 2016 Pro Bowl Tournament got things started today with the start of their preliminary draft. In the closing weeks of the 2015 season, 15 nominees were chosen from among 90 qualifying teams and those 15 were voted on by their peers, with all Association teams eligible to vote. Although 3 Pro Bowl starters declined their invitations, Associated Fantasy’s first annual pro bowl tournament kicked off today with 3 pro bowl starters and 1 alternate – Birds of Prey from the Super 16; On The Rox from Fantasy Addicts; New Orleans Black Hats from The Dixie; and The Great Khalil from Fantasy Addicts. The Pro Bowl Tournament is designed to be the most challenging fantasy football competition around, where the truly elite teams compete to see who’s the best of the best. The tournament includes, a weekly pick ’em component and extremely limited transaction rules as well as a series of bonus points designed to test just how adept participants are at managing their start-sit decisions. You can take a look at the Pro Bowl Welcome Letter to see just what sort of a challenge lies ahead for these fantasy coaches.
The start of today’s draft is only the beginning, a five round email draft where the teams will be selecting players from their 2015 rosters, with Birds of Prey selecting Devonta Freeman at first overall. After this preliminary draft, the Pro Bowl Tournament will hold a second (auction) and third (serpentine) portion of their three-part 2016 draft on 8/28 and 9/6.
This weekend, Associated Fantasy’s draft season continues as Legion of Defense and The Dixie each hold their drafts on Sunday 8/21.
