16 x 16 is now 16 x 8

AF Tournaments LogoAF TOURNAMENTS – With Week 6 now in the books, the AF 16×16 Knock-Out Tournament moves to Round 2, with 8 teams advancing and 8 teams being eliminated.  Associated Fantasy‘s largest tournament, 16 teams competed in Weeks 1-3 for total points to seed a 16 arm, fixed bracket.  In weeks 4-6, the first stage of that bracket played out with teams competing in a best of 3 series of matches for a chance to advance to the next stage.  The 16×16 is one of AF’s money tournaments, and with the field of teams now down to 8, the teams only need to advance one more time to be assured of a payout.

Team Johnson, Team Pokhriyal, and Monkeys of Mayhem – the #2, #5, and #10 seeded teams all won their first two match-ups in Weeks 4 and 5 in the best of 3 series and had already advanced to Round 2.  The remaining teams had all split their games in Weeks 4 and 5, so for 10 teams, Week 6 was a win-or-go-home scenario.  In all but one of those matches, the higher seeded team won their Week 6 sudden death contest to advance as the #1, #3, #4, #6, and #9 teams moving on.  The full list of the 8 teams advancing to Round 2 are:  Show me your TDs, Team Johnson, Wild Card, Not Racist Redskins, Pantherapy, Team Pokhriyal, Abbey Normal, and Monkeys of Mayhem.  These teams will now enter a new best of 3 match-up through Weeks 7-9 to determine the 4 teams advancing to the semifinals.
