Wild Card Weekend in the Super 16

S16 logo 2015SUPER 16 – The season seems too short every year, but Wild Card Weekend has arrived in the Super 16, and it features a pair of exciting matchups.

The #5 seed 1 Eye Til I Die (9-3-1) will face off with the North Division Champion #4 seed Motor City Kitties ( 9-4-0) in a rematch of a week 11 SimulPlay Game of lionsthe Week that 1 Eye lost 141-180. The Kitties have won five straight, including that week 11 victory, and have won seven of their last eight matchups going all the way back to week six. They are averaging 173 points per game for the season, but 193 points per game over their last five.

1 Eye Til I Die is ranked 3rd overall in the league, but came up a tied game and 12 points short of winning their division. The expansion squad is no stranger to big games, having been featured in the Game of the Week five times this season and are also an AF Pro Bowl nominee. The Week 11 loss to the Kitties was their only loss over the last seven weeks, a period of time in which they have averaged 192 points per game. It should be a close, high-scoring matchup.

patriot pete2The #3 seeded, East Division Champion, Pro Bowl nominee Ice Cold Bruschis (9-4-0) will host the #6 seeded SF’s BowMen (8-5-0) in the teams’ first ever meeting. The Bruschis got off to a red hot start this season, winning eight straight with a monstrous per game average of 226 points. Beset by injuries, however, they have only won one of their last five and averaged only 159 points per game in that span. The Bruschis have been to the playoffs twice, but have never played in the first round, they are 1-2 in the post season, with one of the losses coming in Super Bowl I.

SF’s Bowmen had to fight through this season’s most competitive division and did not secure their Wild Card berth until week 13 with their victory over the defending Champion BEARMINATORS and the Northern ‘Fins’ defeat. They’ve averaged 174 points per game this season, 166 over the last four games. This match-up might turn out to be a low scoring grinder, currently being projected at 184-190, Bruschis.
