  • League will also have an Assistant LM
    • Asst LM will assist in the operations of the League, however any rules arbitration will still be conducted solely by LM
    • Asst LM’s team WILL NOT be subject to removal from Championship eligibility based on the clause above pertaining to LM’s team

  • Bench: 0
    • 1 QB/RB/WR/TE SUPER FLEX, 1 TEAM DEF, and 3 Bench positions will be added to rosters in Week 8 (see Free Agency/Rounds)

V     Scoring

  • For rules clarity, the term “Scoring” can be broken down into the category of “Fantasy Points” and “Standings Points”

Fantasy Points

  • Fantasy Points are defined as the actual points scored in individual match-ups based upon the scoring settings wherein preset player statistical benchmarks = preset points
  • Offense: AF Standard offensive scoring settings
  • Team Defense: AF Standard defensive scoring settings

Standings Points

  • Standings Points are a series of points and bonus points teams can earn through the season, they take the place of the traditional W-L standings and determine the teams that will make the League Playoffs (see Playoffs)
  • Standings Points will accrue throughout the Regular Season and will be updated weekly and posted to the AF website and to the League Message Board
  • Standings Points from any or all of the below categories may be earned simultaneously
    • Standings Points for Head-to-Head wins:
      • Teams will receive 100 Standings Points for head-to-head wins in each week of the Regular Season
      •  Teams will receive 50 Standings Points for head-to-head ties in each week of the Regular Season
      • Bonus Standings Points for Head-to-Head wins:
        • In addition to the 100 Standing Points awarded for each win, teams will receive a Standings Point bonus for head-to-head wins equal to the value of 10 x N consecutive wins
          • EXAMPLES:  1 single head-to-head win = 10 Bonus Standings Points; 2nd consecutive head-to-head win = 2o Bonus Standings Points; 3rd consecutive win = 30 Bonus Standings Points; and so on
        • A head-to-head loss will cause the the value of the next head-to-head win to return to 10 Roster Points
        • Consecutive wins carry over from one Round to the next (Regular Season)
        • In the event of a tie, the consecutive win-streak will continue without a bonus for the tied game
          • EXAMPLE:  2 consecutive wins = 20 Bonus Standings Points; 2 consecutive wins followed by a tie = 0 Bonus Standings Points (for that week); 2 consecutive wins, followed by a tie, followed by another win = 30 Bonus Standings Points
  • Standings Points Trade Bonus:
    • When teams engage in a trade, the player posting the highest score of the two players traded in the week immediately following the trade, will accrue a Standings Point Trade Bonus of 50 points added to the Standings Points Total of the team that acquired that player
    • Teams must be the end user of the player (in that week) to receive the Standings Points Trade Bonus
    • EXAMPLE:  Team 1 trades Player A to Team 2 for Player B; in the same week, Team 2 then trades newly acquired Player A to Team 3 for Player C; in this scenario, if Player A outperforms Player B, Team 3 will receive the bonus, AND if Player A outperforms BOTH Players B and C, Team 3 would receive a double bonus
    • See Section IX “Trading” for more information
  • Standings Points for Acquisition Bonus:
    • Every week, the team that starts the highest fantasy scoring player of all players acquired by all teams in that same week will receive a Standings Points Acquisition Bonus of 40 points
    • Player must have been acquired in the week immediately prior to the high scoring performance
    • Player may have been acquired through either Free Agency or through Trade to be eligible (Week 1 performance by players acquired in the draft is also eligible)
      • If acquired through trade, the team would receive both the Acquisition Bonus AND the Trade Bonus for that player

VI     The Draft

  • Draft will be live online at a date and time TBD once League is full and all entry fees have been paid
  • Draft will be an Auction draft with the nomination order randomized by draft client 30 minutes prior to the start of the draft
  • Auction Budget for draft will be 206
  • ONLY THE FIRST THREE (3) PLAYERS EACH TEAM SUCCESSFULLY BIDS ON WILL REMAIN ON TEAM ROSTERS FOR THE START OF THE SEASON
    • This means each team will have a budget of 200 for their first three draftees as the draft client will hold in reserve a minimum of 1 each for the other 7 remaining roster positions
    • All other players acquired in the roster will be manually released prior to the start of the season so that all teams start Week 1 with 3 players on their roster
    • There is no positional requirement for the 3 players with all remaining roster positions to be filled through Free Agency during the season (see Free Agency/Rounds)

VII     Schedule/Regular Season

  • The match-up schedule will be set up as a double-round robin in which each team in the tournament will be placed head-to-head with every other team in the tournament once in Weeks 1-7 (Round 1), and again in Weeks 8-14 (Round 2)
    • See Section VII “Free Agency/Rounds” for more information on “Rounds”
  • The order of the round robin match-ups will be inverted in Round 2, meaning that each team’s Week 8-14 schedule will be the inverse order of opponents they played in Weeks 1-7

VIII     Free Agency/Rounds

  • Round 1 (Weeks 1-7)
    • Free Agency will remain locked from the conclusion of the draft until the end of Week 1 play
    • Free Agency settings will be set to “Revolving Waivers, never reset, move to last after successful claim”
    • Waiver Period will be 2 days
    • Initial Waiver Priority order in Week 1 will be inverse of Week 1 total fantasy points
    • Teams will only be permitted 1 Add per week
  • Franchise Tag (Week 8)
    • At the conclusion of Week 7 – immediately following the MNF game and no later than 9:00am EDT the following morning – teams must designate one of their players with a ‘Franchise Tag’ by message board post
    • Players designated with a Franchise Tag will remain on their team’s rosters, and all other rostered players will be released into the Free Agent pool
    • Teams may make this designation earlier than the MNF game’s conclusion if they desire
    • If a team fails to designate one of their players with the franchise tag, the player on their roster with the highest season points total at the conclusion of Week 7 will be designated as such by the LM
  • Round 2 (Weeks 8-14)
    • At the start of Week 8 (conclusion of Week 7), concurrent with all non-Franchise Tagged players being released into Free Agency, Waiver Settings will be switched to a “Waiver Auction Budget”
    • Concurrent with the switch to a WAB, Waiver Period will remain 2 days
    • The Budget set for each individual team will be equal to the to-date Fantasy Points Total they have accrued at the end of Week 7
    • Concurrent with the switch to a WAB, (at the conclusion of Week 7/start of Week 8) add/drop transactions settings will be changed to allow for a maximum of 2 Adds per week through to the conclusion of Week 14
    • Concurrent with the switch to a WAB, (at the conclusion of Week 7/start of Week 8), 1 QB/RB/WR/TE SUPER FLEX, 1 TEAM DEF, and 3 Bench positions will be added to rosters
    • After Franchise Tagging has occurred, after the release of all other players into Free Agency, after the switch to WAB and the addition of the new roster positions BUT before the start of Week 8 play, teams will be able to make their 2 adds for the week so that they enter Week 8 with 3 players on their roster.  Trades within the space of Week 7-8 are also allowed.

IX      Trading

  • Trading within the League is highly encouraged and is a part of the basis of the League structure
  • Trades have no maximum number allowed, do not count against weekly Add/Drop limits, and there is no (Regular Season)Trade Deadline;  Traded players are eligible to receive Standings Points Acquisition Bonuses
    • In the event that a pair of traded players achieve a tied score to the second decimal place in the week of the trade, both teams will evenly split the Standings Points Trade Bonus
  • Trades are limited to the trading of a single player in exchange for a single player with the following exception:
    • In Weeks 8-14 teams may ‘buy’ players, by trading away any amount of their WAB points to another team in exchange for a single player
    • The method of performing the above trade will be for the teams to enter into the agreement with each other either by email or message board post, then BOTH teams must confirm the deal BOTH BY MESSAGE BOARD POST AND BY EMAIL TO THE LM, LM/Asst LM will then perform the transaction manually
    • In the event of a WAB/Player trade, the team acquiring the player, will by default, receive the 50 Standings Points Trade Bonus and BOTH teams remain eligible for the Standings Points Acquisition Bonus
  • Additionally
    • In Weeks 8-14, teams may include any amount of their WAB points to be traded WITH a single player for single player trade deal
    • The method for performing this type of trade will be for the teams to enter into the agreement with each other either by email or message board post, then BOTH teams must confirm the deal BOTH BY MESSAGE BOARD POST AND BY EMAIL TO THE LM, LM will then perform the transaction manually
    • In the event of a player/player+WAB trade, existing rules remain in place for determining which team receives the 50 Standings Points Trade Bonus and BOTH teams remain eligible for the Standings Points Acquisition Bonus
  • Player-for-Player Trades will be processed automatically by the host site and will receive LM/Asst LM review after processing to verify that they follow the 1 for 1 rule – any player-for-player trades not adhering to the 1 for 1 policy will be reversed upon review
  • All WAB type trades as detailed above will be processed by LM/Asst LM manually once both parties have posted the trade details to the message board

X     Playoffs/Championship

  • In lieu of a traditional playoff format, the Fantasy Barons League will consist of a single, 3-week Championship Game
  • At the conclusion of Week 14, the top 2 teams by Standings Points Total will advance to face each other in a 3-week, cumulative points, head-to-head Championship Game (weeks 15, 16, and 17)
  • At the conclusion of Week 14, all trading will be suspended
  • At the conclusion of Week 14, all add/drops will be locked for the 6 teams that do not advance to the Championship
  • Before start of play in Week 15, after players have cleared Waivers but before the first NFL game of the week, add/drops will be locked for the two teams advancing to the Championship

Roster Cutting

  • Each Championship team will have the ability to name one player from the opponent’s roster that must be cut in each week of the Championship match (Weeks 15, 16, and 17)
    • Team Defenses are exempted from being named to be cut
    • Individual players from opponents team may be named one per week in each of the three weeks of the Championship
    • Players are named by posting to the League message Board, LM/Asst LM will make the cut manually
    • There is no timeline or time limit on when a team may select which of their opponents’ players are to be cut; if a team fails to name a player in a given week, two players can be named the following week
    • Teams may not name more than one player from the same position to be cut from opponents team through the course of the Championship
  • Because there is no setting on the hosting site for this type of playoff/championship format, in Weeks 15, 16, and 17 the Championship teams will be manually matched up with each other and their weekly scores will be manually added up (the remaining 6 teams will be manually put on BYE weeks)
  • At the conclusion of Week 17, the team with the highest three week total (Weeks 15, 16, and 17) will be named League Champion

XI     Tiebreakers

  • Head-to-head match-ups may end in ties, in which case both team in the tie will receive 50 Standings Points for the tie game
  • Standings Points Ties (for the purposes of naming the Championship participants)
    • If the number 1 and number 2 ranked teams in the league (by Total Standings Points) are tied, both teams advance to the Championship
    • If there is a tie involving two or more teams in which determining the number 1 and number 2 teams for advancing to the Championship is not possible, the following order of tiebreakers will be used:

      2. Total three week Team Defense Total points
      3. Total number of touchdowns in three-week Championship scored by all players combined on either team (includes defense)

      5. Should the Championship still be tied after those 4 tiebreakers, teams will be declared co-Champions and the prize money will be split

XII     Special Rule

  • Participation in league is limited to one entry per household/IP address
  • After all league slots are filled but before draft order has been established, NFL.com will be contacted to verify that all participants registered with league are originating from different IP addresses to verify that no participant is registered with multiple teams
  • Multiple teams originating from the same IP address will result in immediate expulsion of all teams involved
  • It is recommended, that before the draft, each individual team verify for themselves that all teams are from different IP addresses; this can be done through the contact NFL tool (found in the FAQs), simply send an email, include league id number, and ask NFL to verify that no teams in the league originate from the same IP address
