On The Hunt

SUPER 16 – Match-ups don’t get much better than the Week 6 Game of the Week in the Super 16, featuring AF#3 ranked SF’s BowMen (4-1-0) vs the AF#18 ranked Birds of Prey (4-1-0).   The teams are ranked #1 and #3 in the S16 going into the game, and are ranked #1 and #4 in total scoring, and with the Birds averaging 189 points per game and the BowMen averaging a whopping 210 per game, this could wind up being one of the highest scoring games in league history.  BowMen’s only loss all season was by 2 points to division rival Arizona Firebirds, while the only smudge on Roger Tripp and his Birds’ record is a loss to North Division leader Motor City.

A likely playoff preview, the teams have met only once before, in Week 1 of the 2016 season.  That one was a high scoring match that the Birds took 235-192, a performance that put them into the league record book at #21 on the single game scoring list; BowMen put an entry at #14 on that list just last week in their 245-205 defeat of rival 1 Eye Til I Die.  The big stage is no strange place for Birds of Prey who have been featured in the league’s Game of the Week more often than any other franchise and are the winningest team in league history, but the BowMen are no strangers to big games this year either on their road to league number 1 – their opponent in Week 4 (Arizona) and 5 (1 Eye Til I Die) were the league number 2 team when they met…playing the number 3 ranked Birds of Prey is practically a vacation with this schedule.

Around the league in other action, BowMan’s biggest threat for control of the West Division, Coach Mac’s #2 ranked, AF#6 1 Eye Til I Die (4-1-0) gets a gift match-up against the last place BEARMINATORS, hoping for their cross-bay rivals to slip against BoP.  In one of Week 6’s three SimulPlay Matches, the Birds’ division rival Who Dats (3-2-0) will face the North Division leader Motor City Kitties (3-2-0) as they try to catch up to BoP.  The Kitties are locked into their own division battle with The Dawg Pound (3-2-0) who face HOUSTON in another SimulPlay.  The new leader in the East, Geno’s Jawbreakers (3-2-0), have topped 200 points in each of their last 3 outings, and will try to extend their win streak to 4 when they take on the expansion Bucking Broncs, while the defending champion Northern Fins and Steel Curtain, both 3-2-0 as well, battle it out looking to displace the Jets franchise.
