Legion Rules are now LOCKED for the 2019 season: 8/14/19

I     General

A.     These will serve to be the official rules for Associated Fantasy’s Legion of Defense (LoD)

B.    Rule/Settings Lock Date

    1. At a date TBD before the draft, both the rules on this rules page and the settings at the hosting site’s league home will be “LOCKED” and will not change until the following offseason
      1. Coaches will be notified of this both before the Lock Date and at the time rules/settings are locked
      2. No changes will be made to settings after this date under any circumstances even if particular settings have been mistakenly set up in a way that is unintended (SEE Sec I.D.1)

C.     For anything not covered in these rules, please refer to the League Settings page at League website:  http://fantasy.nfl.com/league/1946713/settings

D.     All arbitration of League Rules to be arbitrated solely by League Manager (LM)

1.   Should any unforeseen event arise not covered explicitly in the rules, LM will exercise final judgment

2.   Any LM decision that involves LM’s team will cause LM’s team to be removed from Championship eligibility

      1. Asst LM’s team will not be affected by this rule if LM is managing league as Asst LM’s co-owner

E.     League will be hosted on NFL.com

 

II     Format

 

A.     12 Teams, redraft

B.     Legue will be aligned into 2 divisions of 6 teams each

 

III     Entry Fees/Payouts

 

A.     LoD is a free-entry/no payout league offering of Associated Fantasy

 

IV     Rosters

 

A.     Starting Line-Up will be made up of 1 Team Defense and the AF Heavy IDP Roster Package

B.     Position Maximums

    1. A maximum of 2 Team Defenses may be rostered at any time
    2. IDP Position Limits are no longer in effect

C.     Bench positions will total 6

NOTE: IDP Warrior has been revised for 2019, changing the value for passes defensed from 1 point each to 2 points each.  League settings have been updated but the graphic above has not.

VI     Draft

 

A.     Draft Date/Time

1.   Draft will be held live online, annually on the second Sunday of preseason, at 11:00am EDT

a.   2019 draft will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2019 @11:00am EDT

2.   Draft will be serpentine style, 16 rounds in length

3.   120 seconds are allotted for each pick

B.     Draft Order

1.   Draft order will be determined by the following formula:

      1. Premier Bowl Winner in prior season will receive #1 draft position
      2. Legion Bowl Winner in prior season will receive #2 draft position
      3. Legion Bowl loser in prior season will receive #3 draft position
      4. Draft positions #4-#12 will correlate to inverse order of Regular Season standings in prior season (Tiebreakers in effect)

2.   2019 Draft Order – as determined by above rule is:

      1. Roxteady
      2. Suspension Freaks
      3. Sleeper Agent
      4. Sacks Fifth Avenue
      5. Gotta Big D   efense
      6. Chinese Bandits
      7. Gates of Delirium
      8. The Cavalry
      9. BIGDOGINTEX
      10. Battering Rams
      11. Mighty Pats
      12. Insane Clowney Posse

3.  New Teams and Draft Order

a.   New teams will receive the draft position of the team they replace, if multiple new teams enter league in the same season, they will receive the open draft positions left by departing teams by random draw

 

VII     Free Agency and Trades

 

A.     Free Agency will open immediately following draft with waiver rules in effect

B.     Waivers

1.   Waivers will be set to “Revolving Waivers, move to last after successful claim”

2.   Waiver period will be 2 days

3.   Initial waiver priority will be draft order

C.     Restrictions

1.   Teams are limited to making a maximum of 2 add/drop transactions per week during the regular season

2.   Only the 5 playoff teams will be allowed any add/drop transactions in Week 13

3.   Only the 4 Championship Tournament teams will be allowed to make add/drop transactions in Weeks 14-16

4.   Only the 2 teams playing in the Legion Bowl and the 2 teams playing in the Premier Bowl will be allowed to make add/drop transactions in Week 17

D.     Trades

1.   Trades are allowed with a November 24 trade deadline

2.   Trade are approved by league review

 

VIII     Regular Season/Schedule

 

A.     Regular Season will be held in Weeks 1-12

B.     In Weeks 1-6, teams will play an out-of-division round robin schedule in which every team will play every team in the opposite division one time

C.     In Weeks 7-12 teams will play a Ladder Schedule against teams within their division

1.   Beginning in Week 7, match-ups will be reset each week so that in each division, teams will face division oponents based on rank

a.   #1 vs #2, #3 vs #4, #5 vs #6

2.   Division standings as determined by NFL.com will be used to determine match-ups

3.   There is no limit to the number of consecutive weeks teams may be matched against each other

D.   At the conclusion of Week 12, the highest ranked team in each division will be named the Division Champion

 

IX     Playoffs

 

A.     5 teams will qualify for the playoffs

    1. Division 1 Champion – #1 ranked team by standings in the Centurian Division
    2. Division 2 Champion – #1 ranked team by standings in the Gladiator Division
    3. Standings Runner-Up – highest ranked team by standings from either division after both division champions have been named
    4. Points Wild Card – highest scoring team by regular season points after Division Chasmpions and Standings Runner-Up have been named
    5. Sacks Wild Card – team with the highest regular season IDP sack total after both Division Champions, Standings Runner-Up, and Points Wild Card have been named

B.     Wild Card Game

1.   The Points Wild Card Team and the Sacks Wild Card Team will play each other in Week 13 in a single elimination game

2.   The winner of this game will advance to the Championship Tournament and the loser will receive the #1 seed in the Play-In Bracket

3.   All other teams will be on a BYE in Week 13

C.     Championship Tournament (CT)

1.   The Championship Tournament will be a single round robin playoff in weeks 14-16 comprised of the two Division Champions, the Standings Runner-Up, and the winner of the Week 13 Wild Card Game in which each team will play every other team once

2.   After the Week 16 conclusion of the CT, the two highest ranked teams by CT standings will advance to face each other in the Week 17 Legion Bowl Championship

3.   After the Week 16 conclusion of the CT, the third place team by CT standings will advance to play in the Week 17 Premier Bowl

D.     Legion Bowl

1.   The Legion Bowl will be held in Week 17 and will be the League Championship game of the Legion of Defense, played between the two highest ranked teams (by CT Standings) to emerge from the 3 week Championship Tournament

2.   Winner of the Legion Bowl will be named League Champion

E.     Play-In Bracket

1.   Coinciding with the Championship Tournament will be a consolation bracket called the Play-In Bracket among all non-playoff teams and the loser of the Week 13 Wildcard Game

2.   All non-playoff teams will have a Week 13 BYE

3.   Beginning in Week 14, the 7 non-playoff teams and the loser of the Wildcard Game will play in a fixed, first vs last, single elimination bracket in which the Wildcard loser will be the #1 seed and the remaining teams will be seeded #2-#8 by regular season record

4.   The Play-In Bracket will proceed by single elimination in Weeks 14, 15, and 16, in which at the conclusion of Week 16 only one team will remain

5.   The Play-In Bracket Winner will be matched against the 3rd place team (by CT standings) of the Championship Tournament in a Week 17 match-up concurrent with the League Championship to be referred to as the Premier Bowl

F.     Premier Bowl

1.   The Premier Bowl will be held in Week 17, played between the third highest ranked team (by CT Standings) to emerge from the 3 week Championship Tournament and the winner of the 3 week Play-In Bracket

2.   Winner of the Premier Bowl will receive the #1 draft position in the following season’s draft

 

X     Tiebreakers

 

A.     Individual match-ups in the Regular Season are allowed to end in ties and will be factored into teams’ W-L-T record

B.     Individual match-ups within the Championship Tournament are allowed to end in ties and will be factored into teams’ W-L-T records when compiling the final standings of the Championship Tournament

C.     The Wildcard Game (Week 13), matches within the Play-In Bracket, the Premier Bowl, and the Legion Bowl cannot end in ties (see “Tiebreakers” below)

D.     Progression of Regular Season Standings Tiebreakers for determining Division Champions and/or Standings Runner-Up are as follows:

    1. Head-to-head record
    2. Head-to-head cumulative points
    3. Total season points
    4. Total, combined IDP FLEX position points in head-to-head matches
    5. Total, combined IDP FLEX position points in Weeks 1-12
    6. Total, combined LB position points in head-to-head matches (does not include LB’s started in the FLEX position)
    7. Total, combined LB position points in Weeks 1-12 (does not include LB’s started in the FLEX position)
    8. Total TEAM DEF points in head-to-head matches
    9. Total TEAM DEF points in Weeks 1-12
    10. Coin Flip

E.     Progression of Regular Season Points Tiebreakers for determining Points Wild Card are as follows:

    1. Regular Season (Weeks 1-12) Standings
    2. Head-to-head record
    3. Head-to-head cumulative points
    4. Total, combined IDP FLEX position points in head-to-head matches
    5. Total, combined IDP FLEX position points in Weeks 1-12
    6. Total, combined LB position points in head-to-head matches (does not include LB’s started in the FLEX position)
    7. Total, combined LB position points in Weeks 1-12 (does not include LB’s started in the FLEX position)
    8. Total TEAM DEF points in head-to-head matches
    9. Total TEAM DEF points in Weeks 1-12
    10. Coin Flip

F.     Progression of game tiebreakers for the Wildcard Game, the Play-In Bracket games, the Premier Bowl, and the Legion Bowl are as follows:

    1. Total, combined IDP FLEX position points
    2. Total, combined LB position points (does not include LB’s started in the FLEX position)
    3. Total TEAM DEF position points
    4. Total, combined DL position points (does not include DL’s started in the FLEX position)
    5. Total, combined DB position points (does not include DB’s started in the FLEX position)
    6. Team with highest total, combined sacks among all starting IDP positions
    7. Team with highest total, combined interceptions among all starting IDP positions
    8. Team with highest total, combined fumbles forced among all starting IDP positions
    9. Team with highest total, combined fumbles recovered among all starting IDP positions
    10. Coin Flip (except for Legion Bowl)
      1. Should Legion Bowl remain tied after 9th progression of  the above tiebreakers, Championship will be shared and following season draft order for the two competing teams will be decided by coin flip

G.    Progression of  Tiebreakers for determining teams that advance to the Legion Bowl in a Championship Tournament (CT) that ends in  tied standings are as follows:

    1. Head-to-head record in CT
    2. Head-to-head cumulative points in CT
    3. Total CT points
    4. Total, combined IDP FLEX position points in head-to-head matches in CT
    5. Total, combined IDP FLEX position points in Weeks 1-12
    6. Total, combined LB position points in head-to-head matches in CT(does not include LB’s started in the FLEX position)
    7. Total, combined LB position points in Weeks 1-12 (does not include LB’s started in the FLEX position)
    8. Total TEAM DEF points in head-to-head matches in CT
    9. Total TEAM DEF points in Weeks 1-12
