Blood Eagle
While most of the attention this season has been on the South and West Divisions in the Super 16, defending champion WRATH OF ODIN (5-3-0) and Eagle has Landed (5-3-0) have both quietly been quietly dominating their respective North and East Divisions and are poised to put themselves in a position to clinch Division Championships with as little as 3 more wins. They stand in each others’ path on the road to that quest though, facing each other in the Week 9 Game of the Week.
ODIN currently sits at 5th in the league in total scoring, averaging 188 points per game, while the Eagle is 8th on that list, but they’ve topped that pace in 3 of their last 5 matches. Because of a quirk of the schedule, this is the second time the pair have faced off this season with the Eagle coming out on top of a Week 6 SimulPlay match that was a low scoring slugger, 166-155. That makes 2 in a row for the Eagle vs Odin, as they were the only team of 2018 to deliver a loss to Odin’s otherwise perfect 15-1 record (including playoffs). The latest line has Odin installed as 10 point favorites in the rematch, and the winner will be just a couple of wins away from locking up their division. It’s only Halloween, but this feels like playoff football.

UPDATED: The defending Super Bowl Champion WRATH OF ODIN (6-3-0) looked thoroughly dominant in the Game of the Week, defeating Eagle has Landed 170-122. They now have a two game lead in the North Division that could become a 3 game edge once stat corrections come in after The Indy-structibles (4-5-0) battled to a 138-136 photo finish with Steel Curtain (3-6-0). The Eagle’s loss leaves them at 5-4-0 and still in the lead for the East Division, but Northern Fins (4-4-1) beat the Jaw Breakers this week, and that tie game may come into play for the division race in this wide open division.
The AF#1 Who Dat Saints (7-2-0) suffered a 130-150 bye week loss to Birds of Prey (6-3-0), but get an immediate SimulPlay rematch in Week 10, while the AF#9 SF’s BowMen (6-3-0) also stumbled, losing 160-170 to the Arizona Firebirds (5-4-0). If 1 Eye Til I Die’s 237-234 win over Motor City stands up to stat corrections, they’ll pull to even with the BowMen with a 6-3-0 record. The battle of Texas still hangs in the balance as well, BIGDOGINTEX carrying a 2 point lead over WTF HOUSTON into the stat correction overtime period. With 4 weeks of regular season play remaining, 14 teams are still elligible for the 4 division championships, and with the layout of Week 10 match-ups, next week promises to be HUGE.
