AFFL Week 13 Highlight Game
Going into the final week of the regular season in the all new AFFL the West Division is the only division without a crowned Division Champ. The AF#12 Henderson Gamblers (8-4-0) can clinch the Championship with a season finale win, can the hapless Ohio Federals (4-8-0) pull of the upset of the season? The oddsmakers seem to think they can, as the Federals are currently installed as 15 point favorites. With a loss, Henderson can still clinch the West if the San Quentin Showboats (8-4-0) lose to the SoCal Gold (5-7-0), but a Henderson loss and a San Quentin win will give the West to the Showboats.
The 4 Wild Card Spots are still in play as well in this final week. The #5 and #6 seed Standings Wild Card will be the top two teams by standings after this week, and shapes up like this before tiebreakers are applied:
- Henderson or San Quentin 8-4-0
- Siloam Springs Panthers 8-4-0
- Pittsburgh Maulers 7-5-0
- Bicton Breakers 7-5-0
Siloam Springs is playing the Atlanta Stars (4-8-0); Pittsburgh faces the Sleeperville Outlaws (6-6-0); and AF#23 Bicton gets NY/NJ Generals (4-8-0). Tiebreakers for seeds #5 and #6 are head to head record, then total points, so a lot is still in play with these two spots.
The #7 and #8 Wild Cards are based on Total Season Points, and shape up like this:
- Italian Wranglers – 2323 points
- Henderson Gamblers 2257 points
- Bicton Breakers 2142 points
- Kokomo Renegades 2109 points
- Pittsburgh Maulers 2081 points
- Siloam Springs Panthers 2069 points
- Sleeperville Outlaws 2020 points
- San Quentin Showboats 1977 points
The inaugural season of the AFFL all comes down to this week, and the finish looks as exciting as the season has been.

UPDATED: Pulling off the upset of the season, The Ohio Federals have prevailed, and – barring stat corrections – cost Henderson the West Division Championship which will go to the San Quentin Showboats who came up big with a 197-136 win over the SoCal Gold.
Before moving on to the Playoffs, to close out the Regular Season, the Italian Wranglers have been named the Regular Season High Score Award Winner for a week 8 single game score of 289 points – the highest single game score posted through the regular season – and will win the High Score Pot (balance of MFL hosting fees) of $90.05
Week 13 stat corrections in a few close games, and a full tiebreaker audit may change these results before they’re declared official, but here’s how the AFFL 2019 inaugural Playoffs look:
- Seed #1 South Division Champion – Raleigh Gunslingers (11-2-0)
- Seed #2 West Division Champion – San Quentin Showboats (9-4-0)(owns week 2 head to head tiebreaker over Miami)
- Seed #3 East Division Champion – Miami Stallions (9-4-0)
- Seed #4 Standings Wild Card #1 (by total points tiebreaker) – Henderson Gamblers (8-5-0)
- Seed #5 International Division Champion – B.C. Blitz (8-5-0) (owns division record tiebreaker over Bicton)
- Seed #6 Standings Wild Card #2 (by total points tiebreaker) – Bicton Breakers
- Seed #7 Points Wild Card #1 – Italian Wranglers
- Seed #8 Points Wild Card #2 – Siloam Springs Panthers (by head to head tiebreaker with Pittsburgh)
NOTE(1): East, West, and South Divisions have been won outright by record. International Division- B.C. and Bicton tied records, split first (Division) tiebreaker (head to head), and goes to B.C. by 2nd (Division)tiebreaker (division record – 6-2 over 5-3)
NOTE(2): Overall Playoff Seeding is by Overall Regular Season Record, with Standings Tiebreakers in effect. (Note Standings Tiebreakers and Division Tiebreakers are different sections within league rules) For More Info, see AFFL LEague Rules
NOTE(3): B.C., Henderson, Siloam Springs, and Bicton all finish with an 8-5-0 record. B.C. qualifies for playoffs based on International Division Championship (by tiebreaker); Henderson, Siloam Springs, and Bicton all have competing records for 2 available Standings Wild Card Spots. First tiebreaker is head to head record, but all four (or all 3 taking B.C. out of the mix) did not all play each other so it moves to second tiebreaker (total points) which gives Henderson and Bicton the 2 available Standings Wild Card Spots
NOTE(4): Siloam Springs misses out on Standings Wild Card to Henderson and Bicton by total points tiebreaker; Italy secures Points Wild Card #1 and Kokomo should leapfrog Siloam Springs despite an inferior record (6-7-0) to secure Points Wild Card #2, BUT, Kokomo has not submitted their league entry fees so by league rule are not elligible to advance. Siloam Springs and Pittsburgh tied total season points for Points Wild Card #2 (pending any week 13 stat corrections) and Siloam Springs owns the Week 7 head to head tiebreaker, leaving Pittsburgh out.
Playoff Bracket:
As the #1 seed, Raleigh has earned the priviledge of choosing their round 1 opponent from among the other 7 playoff teams for match-up #1. The remaining 6 teams will be matched against opponents by their Original Seeding as follows:
Match-Up #2 – Highest vs Lowest
Match-Up #3 – Second Highest vs Second Lowest
Match-Up #4 – Third Highest vs Third Lowest
Round 1 Match-Up #1 and #3 will be in the top arm of the playoff bracket, and Match-Up #2 and #4 will be in the bottom arm
