AF Top 25: Falling Into Number 1
The much anticipated first edition of the AF Top 25 for the 2019 season has been released and the World League’s London Falling find themselves sitting at AF#1 in first place among all 109 AF League Teams. London is 5-0 and debuts on our 2019 rankings with a Power Ranking of 72. The Falling franchise is not only 1st in the World League in total scoring, but also comes in 3rd in the Association in percentage of league points scored. After losing the Eastern Conference Championship last season to rival Old England Patriots who went on to win the Championship, London is fielding the strongest team they’ve had rostered since winning the 2012 inaugural World league Championship. Coach Kev – 4 time WFL Coach of the Year, and Coach of the 2018 winning All Star team, is sporting a 90.7% Coaching Efficiency Rating through the first 5 weeks of the season as he leads off 2019’s first Top 25 listing.
The AF Top 25 and League Team Rankings are compiled weekly by AF Stats Director Matt Oaks once a few weeks of data have been accumulated. The rankings analyze multiple points of data including record, scoring, consistency and efficiency to draw comparisons of all Association League teams against each other across league boundaries, regardless of format. When all data sets are tabulated and combined, they produce a Power Ranking for each team, ranging from a high of 15 (perfect score) to a low of 1635 (worst possible score). The rankings are cumulative, and run through all the way to the end of the season. You can see full details on our ranking methodology at the AF Top 25 FAQ Page.
Coming in at AF#2 on 2019’s first set of rankings is Association Rookie Park City Sonics in the all-new Justice League, followed by the Super-16 powerhouse Who Dat Saints at AF#3. Both the Sonics and the Saints are the only two teams on the inaugural 2019 rankings with a sub-100 PR at 93 and 94, respectively and come in as the top 2 teams in the entire Association in the Coaching Efficiency metric which measures how well a coach has performed at starting the right players on their roster each week.
There is an all-time high of 6 AF Rookie Coaches in this weeks Top 25, and the brand new AFFL and Justice Leagues are represented with a total of 7 Top 25 franchises between the two of them. Two coaches amazingly have multiple entries in the Top 25 – Coach Brian Purvis running the Pittsburgh Maulers and the Everglades City Swamp Force, and Coach Shrimpy running Sleeper Agent, Sub Diego Shrimp Force, and Dem Bucking Broncos; 7 undefeated teams remain in the all Association Leagues, as well as 7 win-less clubs.
