Wild First Two Acts in the Circus
CIRCUS – With two weeks done in AF’s Fantasy Circus it’s already been a wild ride, and there are now just a short 5 weeks to go for 8 of these 16 teams. The Association’s Fantasy Circus is an elimination league with 16 teams broken into two groups of 8. Each group plays a round robin schedule in weeks 1-7 before the bottom four teams from each group are eliminated for the season. Their rosters are cleared to the waiver wire, and the 8 teams that advance start with a fresh 0-0 record and a new 7 week round robin. Using the tough AF Milestone scoring system, the aptly named Fantasy Circus can be the wildest league in the Association and the first 2 weeks of 2017 have been no exception.
In Week 1, 5 of 8 match-ups were decided by 2 points or less, including a 30-30 tie between league veterans Cintoral Piercings and Tmande’s King George Bluto’s. There was also the bizarre match between the Sock Bandits and Bob’s Desert Dogs that at one point had the Bandits losing with a score of -7 points (yes, negative 7), and finally ended with a ridiculous 3-9 final score. Week 2 continued the trend with 2 more of the 8 matches ending in tied games, including the 29-29 tie between the Sock Bandits and Cintoral Piercings for their second tie in as many games. As the standings take shape over the next 2-3 weeks, those pair of ties is either going to really help or really hurt the Pierced Performer – right now they sit at 5th in division without a single win. The other tie was a 14-14 logjam between Desert Dogs and the Gig City Knighthawks. All three ties these first two weeks have been in the Clown Car Division, which should make the standings race before eliminations quite interesting.
The only perfect team remaining is TOBACCO ROAD in the Elephant Troupe Division. These Smokin’ Panthers have already beaten Nexecutioner’s I’m Staring At Her TD’s (34-9) and league charter veteran jolly joe (32-16). They’ll try to stay perfect next week when they take on the League’s 2016 runner-up Cutlering the Cheese. Cintoral Piercings will be trying for their 3rd tie when they face Mighty Pats – who haven’t tied yet, which seems to be the trend in that division.
