The Birds of Prey have been on a rollercoaster ride over their standings record. First a narrow defeat ended the record setting win-streak they were on, but then a Wednesday stat correction reversed the loss. Unfortunately for the birds, their success was short lived as a Thursday stat correction reversed the reversal, once again, ending their win streak at 17 straight.
In a week 12 rematch of Super Bowl I against arch rival Ice Cold Bruschis, they started a new win-streak with a 163-142 victory to mark win #1. The win secures the #1 seed for them along with the first round bye they already had in their pocket, so they’ll look to end the season with win #2 of the new streak vs a better than their record jawbreaker squad.
The loss prevents the Bruschis from securing a first round Bye of their own, and they are now in a race for the slot with both Arizona and Motor City. The Bruschis do have a significant points advantage, so a win would most likely give them the #2 seed regardless of what the Firebirds or Kitties do in week 13, but a loss would leave their fate in others’ hands.
Motor City would need a win AND a Firebird AND Bruschi loss AND a significant week 13 score to grab the #2 seed, but stranger things have happened. The most likely playoff scenario for the Detroit franchise is the #4 seed and a round 1 game vs the #5.
Arizona won a hugely important match vs division rival BowMen, 1 Eye won an equally important one against the Super Chargers that prevents the Firebirds from clinching the division, and also clinches at worst the #6 seed for 1 Eye. With a week 13 win of their own against Los Angeles, Arizona can secure the division crown in the final week of the regular season. BUT, a Firebird loss and a 1 Eye victory would mean the Raiders’ squad would win the West on the strength of their week 7 tie with Los Angeles. If both teams win, 1 Eye will be the #5 seed, if they lose their season finale, they will get either the #5 or the #6 seed based on the points totals in the race for the final wild card slot.
That final wild card slot is now a race between BowMen and the Northern ‘Fins after karma and a kicker eliminated themselves in their week 11 meltdown vs the Jawbreakers. BowMen ends their season vs the 4-8 BEARMINATORS and the Dolphin franchise gets the Who Dats in the GOW that might have been. The ‘Fins have the points advantage, so if both teams win or lose, they will likely make it into the show. If only one of them comes out of week 13 with a ‘W’, they’ve just punched their ticket.
