Super-16 Scoring Totals Are In For 2015
Super 16 – The 2015 scoring totals have been tabulated for the Super 16, courtesy of and with special thanks to Asst Commissioner Coach Barb of the Motor City Kitties. The scoring totals break down the 2015 regular season points by total offensive scoring, total defensive scoring, and total Defensive/Special Teams (DSpT) scoring – DSpT points are calculated by combined scoring from the kicker and team defense positions. Unsurprisingly, the offensive totals show the two Super Bowl IV teams at the top, with Ice Cold Bruschis edging out Birds of Prey by only 27 total offensive points to win 2015’s Offense of the Year honors. The pair of scoring juggernauts were seperated from the rest of the pack by a margin of over a hundred points on the offensive side of the ball.
Defense may not always win championships, but it can make a huge difference in getting there – or almost there. The Bruschis and the Birds placed 5th and 3rd, respectively, on the defensive scoring total list, but that list was dominated by expansion franchises 1 Eye Til I Die and SF’s BowMen. The Raider squad, 1 Eye, took the Defense of the Year Award, besting their cross-bay rival by only 8 defensive points. The bay area teams both placed well to the bottom of the league in offensive scoring this season, but because of their defenses were both playoff teams, each only losing to the eventual Super Bowl squads.
Taking the Defense/Special Teams of the Year trophy was the 2014 league champion BEARMINATORS. The award is a bright spot on a 2015 season that saw the Chicago franchise plagued with injuries on the offensive and defensive sides of the line of scrimmage. Also receiving end-of-season honors, was Coach Jason of Geno’s Jaw Breakers who was named Coach of the Year based on season long line-up decisions. A very special congratulations to all award winners from Associated Fantasy.
